About the Teacher
Mrs. Mary Killebrew
"Ms. K" teaches K-6 General Art and Dance and Middle School Art, Art History, Ceramics, Textiles, and Dance. Killebrew is a member of the National Art Education Association, the National Dance Education Association, and the National Council on Education in the Ceramic Arts. On campus she sponsors the Art Honor Society, Dance Honor Society, co-hosts Fine Arts Night, and coaches Spiritline.
Killebrew graduated from the University of Utah with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science. On campus, she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, the ballroom dance team, and was runner-up in the Hearst Radio Journalism competition. Off-campus, she danced in productions choreographed by Darryl Yeager and Kenny Ortega; was a representative for the Miss America Organization; was an ambassador for the Utah Attorney General’s Office; studied abroad in the Middle East; and interned for Senator Bob Bennett in Washington, DC, researching education, art, and anti-ballistic missile defense. Following graduation she worked for award-winning documentarian Ken Verdoia at PBS Affiliate KUED Channel 7; covered the 2002 Winter Olympics for the Deseret News; worked for Susan Zirinsky, head of CBS News, in New York City; and was named a Fellow with the International Radio and Television Society.
Killebrew is a K-12 Certified Art Educator, lifetime member of GSUSA, member of the Kappa Delta Collegiate Support Team, and is working toward a Masters in Fine Art Education.
